EXTREMADURA

EXTREMADURA

A very special experience at any time of the year. Impressions of the landscape and the news about fishing.

The Extremadura is, besides a great opportunity to go fishing, above all a Spain far off from popular mass tourism. Here you get the opportunity to view wild and captivating landscapes right in the heart of the Cijara reserve. Deer, stags, fallow deer, wild boars, as well as vultures and other raptorial birds will be the species most frequently observed. And not to forget the black stork, emblematic bird of the Extremadura.
Safari photographs or a walkover under pine groves, a picnic besides a natural pool, or a barbecue at the bank of a lake. The calm and a treat for the eyes are the favored indulgences here.
Beyond fishing, have a sortie to Guadalupe in order to pay its XIV century monastery a visit, the largest in Spain since more than four centuries, lending its name to the island of Guadeloupe after the second journey of Christopher Columbus, since he had baptised that island to the name of Santa Maria de Guadalupe d‘Extremadura.
Dine out in an authentic restaurant, enjoying the typical Spanish dishes, trying the famous Pata Negra ham together with a wine of the country, not to forget the Ibores cheese (goat‘s milk cheese, from the surrounding mountains).

Situated in the southwest of Madrid, Extremadura benefits from relatively short winters, but the peaks may be covered with snow.

Spring is magnificent with its green meadows dotted with a variety of flowers. The Dehesa, natural meadows dotted with holm oaks and cork oaks, now shines in its full glory. All predators are active from now on.

Summer is the dry, hot and seasonal holiday season, because the nights in Helechosa de los Montes stay pleasant. For the daring, a morning fishing trip at dawn or a fishing trip at dusk can be an unforgettable adventure.

In autumn, temperatures remain pleasant, and the first rains make the landscape green again. The roar of the deer sounds in the morning and the evening is then the appropriate time to be able to observe them up close. The ideal time to fish, as the fish gather in swarms to feed themselves for the coming winter.
